Strengthening Motivation in the Mathematical Engineering Teaching Processes – A Proposal from Gamification and Game-Based Learning
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gamification and game-based learning (GBL) has been widely implemented in educational processes, mainly elementary education; it applied less frequently university education. The objective was to test the effect of game-mediated teaching strategies on mathematics first-year engineering students. A quantitative study done within framework a design-based research. Eighty-one (81) students participated research, all from Dif-ferential Calculus course. Twelve (12) didactic units were designed. instru-ment used Synthesized Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (SIMMS), adapted record categories Attention, Relevance, Confidence Satisfaction (Keller's motivational model). significant contribution pedagogical strategy different motivation verified, whereas significance between collaboration also evident (intervention 2). Finally, can provide preliminary evidences reduc-ing dropout. In conclusion, be strengthen educa-tional processes engineering.

Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Motivation in an Interactive Engineering Game
In this paper, we study intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation in players playing an electrical engineering gaming environment. We used UNTANGLED, a highly interactive game to conduct this study. This game is developed to solve complex mapping problem from electrical engineering using human intuitions. Our goal is to find whether there are differences in the ways anonymous players solved electrical...
متن کاملMotivation for Learning - Adaptive Gamification for Web-based Learning Environments
Many learning environments are deserted by the learners, even if they are effective in supporting learning. Gamification is becoming a popular way to motivate users and enhance their participation on web-based activities, by adding game elements to the learning environment. But it still pays little attention to the individual differences among learners’ preferences as players. This paper presen...
